Jump Rope
Jump rope is an excellent exercise. Many people workout with a jump rope to lose weight. It’s claimed that you can burn up to 1000 calories an hour by jumping rope, which is really only realistic if you weigh 220 lbs. Nonetheless, its still a really good exercise.


Jump Rope is also used heavily as a cross training tool for other sports. Many professional athletes use jump rope to improve their endurance, agility, and coordination. Boxing is probably the most often cited example of a sport that uses jump rope as part of it’s training regimen.

Personally I love it. Its the best exercise to do at home, for a warm-up or whenever. I try to bring a skipping rope when I travel because its so easy to bring. If I workout at home I jump rope for 5-10 minutes to warm-up and usually incorporate it throughout the workout to keep my heart rate up and to keep sweating. (i.e. do 2-3 different exercises then skip for 1 minute, rest for 1-2 minutes then repeat). Try it sometime.
